BizEd Redesign Receives a Folio Gold

On October 19, publication professionals gathered at the Folio Show in New York City to celebrate the 2015 Eddie & Ozzie Award honorees. We were pleased to be a firm on the honoree list and take away a Gold. BizEd, received two Ozzies: A Gold for Redesign and an Honorable Mention for Overall Design. The January/February 2015 issue of BizEd featured the new design and editorial structure. We were selected for the magazine’s redesign and ongoing design direction by AACSB International based in Tampa, Florida, including BizEd’s co-editors Sharon Shinn and Tricia Bisoux. The magazine is intended for an audience of deans and faculty from business schools worldwide. The new design places greater emphasis on the real-world research and innovation happening at business schools today; it also explores the ways business schools are engaging with stakeholders and making an impact on their communities. During our process, we looked closely at the profiles of a typical BizEd reader to develop a redesign that delivers the articles in a meaningful way. The new design places emphasis on topics of great interest to business schools today through unique visual representations. We worked with the editors to create new departments such as Research & Insights and Ideas in Action, to put greater emphasis on best practices among business school deans and...

2015 CASE Circle of Excellence Awards

2015 CASE Circle of Excellence Awards

Bronze Award: Tufts Magazine, Fall 2014 Cover The judges said: “This is a clean, simple, playful cover that conveys the topic of the cover story-‘nose-to-tail eating of the farm’-in a fresh way (although some of the judges initially assumed the story would be about obesity, given the image of a knife, fork, and plate turned into a pig). Bright, clean design makes this cover stand out.” Not only did we conceptualize this cover but we also created the illustration. And it is Creative Director, Kelly McMurray’s son’s favorite cover.   Gold Award: Cummings Veterinary Medicine, Summer 2014, “Sight Lines” The judges said: “A clear favorite among all of the judges, this design concept and photograph were brilliant for illustrating the issue of feline eye problems. (Even dog lovers like it a lot!) The photography was beautiful and the type treatment was just enough to demonstrate the topic without detracting from the overall beauty of the spread. Tufts University always produces topnotch editorial design and this year certainly didn’t...
