After relaunching the magazine the team at Sewanee wanted to complement the print magazine with a digital experience. After reviewing their options including a stand alone website, one built within their CMS, or out-of-the-box they landed on the latter. Since the magazine prints at Lane Press this was a seamless and cost effective option for the magazine. After the files are approved to print the Lane Press team works with third party Blue Toad to create an ADA compliant digital experience that allows sharing of individual articles, links to their social media, and two different reader experiences. Alumni magazines bring people back to a place and time that was influential to their lives. Sewanee magazine’s On the Mountain celebrates the university from the opening spread and the pages that follow. In the Spring 2025 issue, Tennessee photographer @willdeshazer (William DeShazer) spent two days with students and faculty capturing the Sewanee Outing Club, the tradition of the gown, faculty spotlight, Cumberland Plateau, and a team translating a found archive. The second issue of Sewanee is published! The mission for the redesign, “to develop a magazine that fosters engagement by inviting readers to meet the characters and the settings that power the community, as well as to understand the wider ripples of the school,” was achieved through feature stories that showcase the success of their alumni from NYC to rural America: “From Fifth Avenue to the Future,” the story of Mercedes Abramo, C’92, and her success rebuilding brands from Cartier to her new position at Ralph Lauren “In Plain Sight,” Archivist and alum, Annie Armour Morgret, C’77, and her daughter Sarah Campbell, C’11 adventure from Antiques Roadshow to Christie's “Rx for the Heartland,” Michael Waldum ‘84, CEO of ECU Health and dean of the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University, shares firsthand how he is working to address the healthcare gaps in rural America We selected and directed photographers around the country to capture portraits of these amazing people, including Laura Barisonzi, William Deshazer, and Alex Boerner. We wrapped up our second issue of the International Monetary Fund’s magazine F&D! Each issue focuses on a theme around economics. The March issue, “The Talent Equation,” focuses on the global impact of finding and nurturing talent and how doing so spurs economic growth. For the visual direction we selected illustrators that would humanize the theme, all beautifully achieved by Yasmine Gateau, Simona Bortis-Schultz, Traci Darbecko, and Abbey Lossing. Additional illustration for the features and departments complemented the cover package, including portraits by John Jay Cabuay, Eric Frommelt’s take on “Reconnecting Morality with Political Economy,” and Point of View artist, Chantal Jachan.
